As Trump ushers in a new era of governance, America’s women and non-white citizens find themselves scrambling for safety in a nation where law enforcement has been granted a terrifying level of unchecked power. In an effort to “clean up the streets,” the administration has repealed laws protecting marginalized groups from excessive force, effectively giving police officers the green light to act on their worst impulses without consequence. No longer are there pesky regulations protecting citizens from wrongful imprisonment, excessive force, or sudden disappearances in the night.

Across the country, individuals are seeking refuge in basements, churches, and any remaining safe havens not yet bulldozed to make way for a new Trump Casino. “It’s open season,” said one frightened woman packing her belongings. “The cops have been itching for this moment, and now they can act on every bias they’ve been holding back.” Reports of overzealous officers smashing heads against curbs and crushing windpipes have skyrocketed overnight, with Trump’s press secretary reassuring the public that “the guilty have nothing to fear, unless they look guilty.”
Meanwhile, self-proclaimed “pussy grabbers” are flooding social media with celebratory posts, thrilled at the removal of harassment laws that once put a damper on their extracurricular activities. “It’s a great time to be a man in America,” one anonymous post read. “Finally, no more obstacles between me and the ladies.” The administration insists that this is simply “law and order at its finest,” and claims that law-abiding Americans should be thrilled to finally walk the streets without fear, unless, of course, they aren’t the “right kind” of Americans.
As the nation teeters on the edge of an authoritarian dystopia, one thing is certain: America’s marginalized communities are running out of places to hide, and the rest of the world is watching in horrified amusement.
