Faced with the long, dark winters that leave many citizens feeling sluggish and gloomy, the Swedish government has unveiled a bold new initiative; mandatory daily dancing. In a bid to boost national morale and energy levels, all Swedes over the age of 12 are now required to participate in a state-sanctioned dance session every morning before work and school.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson introduced the “Dance Your SAD Away” program, emphasizing the scientifically proven benefits of movement and joy. “Nothing beats the winter blues like a good boogie,” he said while demonstrating a surprisingly enthusiastic disco move at the press conference. Citizens will be encouraged to choose their preferred dance style, from traditional Swedish folk dance to TikTok routines. However, officials warn that non-compliance could result in "severe frowns" from authorities.

While many Swedes are embracing the initiative, others have voiced their concerns. Some workplaces have reportedly seen productivity drops due to impromptu dance-offs breaking out during meetings. Meanwhile, fitness influencers are cashing in, offering “professional” coaching services to help citizens perfect their state-mandated dance routines.
Despite initial skepticism, early reports suggest a noticeable uplift in national mood, if not productivity. “Honestly, it’s a little weird, but I haven’t felt this good in years,” said one Stockholm resident, before pirouetting away in a blizzard.
